Cookie Notice

The small files this site stores on your device, and what they do

Last updated 18 October 2026

This notice explains how the Cape Town Gem & Mineral Club website uses cookies and similar storage in your browser. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies and similar storage are

Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to keep. Similar technologies, such as browser local storage, work in much the same way. They let a site remember things between page loads — most importantly, whether you are signed in — and they can be used to measure how a site is used.

2. What this site uses

  • Strictly necessary — when you sign in, a token is stored in your browser so the site knows who you are and can show your member dashboard and profile. Without it, you cannot stay signed in. This is also used to keep forms and pages secure.
  • Preferences — small settings such as the fact that you have already dismissed our cookie notice, so we do not keep showing it to you.
  • Measurement — where we use site analytics, we use it in aggregate to see which pages and events are useful. It is not used to build a profile of you or to target advertising.

3. What this site does not use

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, we do not sell data to advertisers, and we do not use cookies to follow you around the internet.

4. Cookies set by other companies

If you choose to sign in using Google, Facebook, Microsoft or Apple, that provider may set its own cookies as part of the sign-in process, under its own privacy and cookie policies. Our payment provider does the same on its secure payment pages. We do not control those cookies.

5. Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies and clear local storage at any time in your browser settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones you will not be able to sign in or use the member areas of the site, but the public pages will still work.

6. Changes and questions

We may update this notice from time to time; the date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed. If you have any question about cookies or your personal information, write to info@ctminsoc.org.za.
